Monika's Cafe Bar is a great venue to kick back, sip a cocktail or enjoy a meal and just let the soothing music wash all over you. A staple "go-to" of the Astoria cafe scene since 1996, Monika's takes great pride in their food and cocktail menu as well as the performers they book for your entertainment pleasure.
 
Recently, Monika's saw a rainbow of diverse musical styles and genre's appear on their stage. Music fans were treated to the acoustic pop stylin of Kata, the alternative Soul-pop band led by Yael Kraus as well as Joe Marsom's Indie Rock sounds. SIPS BITES AND BEATS - ASTORIA

While enjoying the music, don't forget to indulge in Monika's menu selections. They have burgers, wraps (including Falafel), soups, tacos, and some really creative salads. The "goat cheese and beets", "organic quinoa" and "Greek" are all salads so tasty they will even convert a meat lover.
 
Speaking of meat, Monika's small plates include grilled skirt steak and Greek sausage paired with grilled halloumi cheese. Monika's sources organic ingredients whenever possible and serves cage-free eggs at brunch. So you can feel good about what you eat here. Customer conveniences include an ATM, free Wi-Fi and an outdoor seating area, just in time for the nice weather we've all been wishing for.
 
Located at 32-90 36 street, Monika's is only a few blocks from the N/Q Broadway 31 street stop and the Steinway/34 th Avenue R/M train station. Look no further than The Queens Kickshaw in Astoria. A genuine labor of love from husband and wife entrepenuers, Ben Sandler and Jennifer Lim, The Queens Kickshaw reflects their passion for good food and drinks. Proud members of the Astoria community, Ben and Jennifer have made the Kickshaw a cozy, friendly place to hang out, enjoy creative food and hear some really good music.

Find All Bars & Cafes in Astoria 

The Kickshaw's live music series takes place on Friday evenings, from 9 pm until 11:30 pm. The performers are an elective mix to be sure, but they are all easy on the ears and very talented. Astoria's own Home sick Hound Dogs recently entertained The Kickshaw crowd with their toe-tapping Bluegrass sounds. Walking for Pennies, who do Pop/Country and soulful Akie Bermiss are other performers who have held the spotlight at Kickshaw. And, by the way, if you're into kicking-it old school and groovin to artists such as Nick Lowe, Devo, Thin Lizzy and Captain Beefheart, then check out Vinyl Sundays at the Kickshaw.

You can sip your Kombucha ale, cider or espresso, while the house DJ spins the classics for you! The Kickshaw's complement of savory grilled cheese is compelling, to say the least. The cheddar and mozzarella blend is served on a brioche with tomato soup. The Gruyere sandwich is topped with pickled and caramelized onions, mustard on rye with Napa slaw. Their main dishes include a layered potato cake dish and mac n cheese, blending gruyere, cheddar and smoked mozzarella with asparagus and caramelized onions. Gluten free bread is available. Desserts should not be ignored. They are essential to the Kickshaw experience. The Apple Cobbler is served with fresh Hudson Valley whipped cream. Owners Ben and Jerry are strong supporters of Local Artisans and suppliers. Hellgate Farm supplies most of their summer veggies and herbs. Beyond Kombucha, also in Astoria, is the source for Kickshaw's Ale on tap and vinegar. Going to the Kickshaw is kind of like hanging out at a friend's house but with only the best food, drinks and music on tap. Ben and Jennifer and their wonderful team, have made The Queens Kickshaw a really comfortable place to sit a spell and forget your cares.
