The Library Hotel NYC

The Library Hotel in Midtown East, Manhattan, is certainly a most thought-provoking boutique hotel experience. You won't find a hotel with this kind of unique ambiance and style anywhere in America, much less NYC. Books are literally everywhere. They are a part of the decor, but are so much more than that. Books are the living, breathing fabric of the hotel. Each of the hotel's sixty rooms are adorned with a collection of books and artwork that explore various topics.

The Writer's Den and Poetry Garden is located on the fourteenth floor. Read a book by the fireplace and during the warmer months relax in the greenhouse or outdoor terrace. When dusk falls, the entire floor transforms into the very hip and aptly named Bookmarks lounge. The serious writings of Henry James and Tolstoy take their leave for the evening and are replaced by the cool sounds of Beyonce' and Katy Perry. The superb cocktails, though, are inspired by some of the  authors and poets, whose works abound throughout the premises.

Signature amenities include: special access to New York Sports Clubs throughout Manhattan, an evening turndown service with complimentary Belgian chocolates and bottled water, as well as access to  a selection of the latest DVD's, in case you're not in the mood to leaf through a book.

At the Library Hotel, guests will not go hungry. Every evening, from 5 to 8 PM, there is a wine and cheese reception. The delicious and complimentary spread includes Prosecco, fine wines, imported and domestic cheeses as well as artisan breads, crackers and crudites.

In addition to all that, the Reading Room offers fresh brewed coffee, cappuccino, espresso, tea, fresh fruit and cookies, available 24 hours a day. This doesn't sound like your average library, not by any means.

Real Estate agents will tell you that location is everything. The Library Hotel occupies some very prime real estate. The hotel is convenient to both bus and subway lines and is only a few blocks from The New York Public Library (if  the hotel hasn't already got that book you've been looking for), Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, the venerable Empire State building and all the shopping you could want along Fifth Avenue.

Celebrate a family birthday or a romantic night out on the town at The Bar Downstairs. The kitchen offers a farm-to-table dining experience with produce and meats brought in from local farms. The atmosphere is chic but casual. The menu features upscale tapas, small plates and the emphasis is on shareable dining.

The Bar Downstairs will, at times, showcase the work of local artists. Art is extremely important to the Andaz and its management. They have a very visually appealing rotating art program which is fairly unique, even among the most cutting-edge, trendy boutique hotels.

The work of Adrian Stupica, a painter who once worked as a host at the Andaz, was recently featured to much positive feedback from guests.

At the Andaz Fifth Avenue they do things a little differently than you might be used to at a hotel, but you will love every minute of it.
