Outdoor Dinning Midtown Manhattan

Outdoor Dinning Midtown Manhattan

Some of Midtown Manhattan's hidden treasures include a group of restaurants that offer outdoor dining. Some of these places are located in historical buildings or iconic locations like Rockefeller Center.

Other restaurants may be  establishments that you have passed by, time and time again and never realized that they had a garden or patio in the back.

Midtown Manhattan is one of the most exciting areas of the city. And that's really saying something for New York, the city that never sleeps! Within only a few blocks radius, tourists and local residents can enjoy luxury shopping along Madison and Park avenue, thrill to breathtaking panoramic views of the city from the top of the Empire State Building, take in a Broadway show or people watch in Times Square. It's all there for your enjoyment, day or night. Every block in the neighborhood seems to have something interesting to offer, especially if you're a foodie. You just have to know where to look.

Brasserie Ruhlmann - NYC

Executive chef Laurent Tourondel is doing some very special things  in his kitchen at Brasserie Ruhlmann, one of Rockefeller Center's most popular restaurants.

Chef Laurent offers a menu of highly refined French comfort food. Growing up on the coast of France, Laurent spent his early years  fishing with his grandfather  and watching his grandmother bake.  Everything in the Tourondel family kitchen was made from scratch. Those are the tastes and memories that the chef is creating at Brasserie Ruhlmann.

Dinner or brunch tastes even better, if that's at all possible, when it is enjoyed on the Brasserie's spacious patio.  Modeled after a French bistro, the patio's tables are adorned with huge, red folding umbrellas, to provide shade.

BrasserieRuhlmann 1

Located in the middle of Rockefeller Plaza, don't be surprised if, when you are brunching at the patio, you see a celebrity like Dr. Oz or The Today Show's Al Roker pass by.

Dinner is served from 5 pm to 10 pm daily and there is considerable variety here. From sushi and a raw bar to artisanal cheese plates, fish as well as steaks and poultry, there is something on the menu for every culinary taste. Sandwich selections include a traditional and scrumptious Croque Monsieur with imported ham, melted gruyere and béchamel.

Fish selections are authentic and have been inspired by  Chef Laurent's family recipes. The Dover Sole Meuniere and skate Grenobloise (with roasted cauliflower, lemon, capers and brown butter), are both outstanding.

Highlights from the meat and poultry section of the menu include braised lamb shank Provencale, roasted chicken herbs de Provence' and a truly exquisite Beef short ribs Bourguignon in a  red wine sauce with mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes.

Aretsky's  Patroon - NYC

Noted restaurateur Ken Aretsky has taken his game to another level entirely with  Aretsky's  Patroon. This establishment is one of the city's undiscovered gems. The buzz, though, is growing day by day. And with very good reason.

Their beautiful 2,000 square foot terrace is attracting the after-work cocktail crowd. You feel as though you are on a secluded, green perch, high above the hustle and bustle of the city streets. There's no better way to relax, after a stressful day at the office. Just, sip a cocktail, mix and mingle while you enjoy life.

Multi-hued string lights illuminate the night. Soft, cushy banquette seating is set against a wall of thick, green shrubbery.

Their special terrace bar bites menu includes snacks, shares, sliders and rolls, as well as an oyster bar.
If you're with a group of friends, order a selection of savory snacks. The tuna tartare, crab cake sliders, pulled pork sliders, truffle Parmesan fries and house-made pickle platter (spicy wax beans, anise carrots and curry zucchini)  are all can't miss!

Aretsky 2

The dining room is stylish without being stuffy. In short, it's the perfect place for an intimate dinner with the one you love.  There is a distinct steakhouse feel to the menu, with grilled venison, 40-day aged dry ribeye steak and a Berkshire pork porterhouse, all on offer.
But, the kitchen offers variety, as well. Not a fan of red meat? Then, indulge in the pan-roasted halibut, steamed black cod or the heavenly roast chicken breast in vermouth jus, with broccolini.

Inside Park at St. Barts

Inside Park at St. Bart 's is one of the most unusual and majestic restaurants that you ever dine in.  You are actually dining on the premises of one of the oldest churches in New York, Saint Bartholomew's.

St. Bart's Episcopal Parish was founded way back in 1835. The church moved to its' current location on Park Avenue in 1872. The building was designed by James Renwick who was also the lead architect behind Saint Patrick's Cathedral.  Noted architect, Stanford White designed a later addition to the new St. Bart's.

InsidePark

The indoor dining space is located inside the community house's Great Hall. Fifteen foot high yellow and white stained glass windows adorn the elegant dining room. A gorgeous, overhanging balcony is the restaurant's crown jewel.

The terrace is open from April through the Fall season. Seating up to two hundred people, the terrace presents a lovely dining option during the nice weather.
The piazza-like terrace overlooks Park Avenue. A colorful flower garden decorates the grounds around the steps that lead up to the terrace.

The menu here is very reasonably priced, considering the location. And you really get value for your money.

The Summer Garden and Bar

Memories that last a lifetime are created when you dine at Rockefeller Center's iconic Summer Garden and Bar.
This spectacular restaurant occupies the space that is home to the skating rink during the cold months of winter. The gorgeous Summer garden and bar will absolutely knock your socks off.

Meet your friends for an evening of joy, merriment, hand-crafted cocktails and great food.  You can take the glass elevators down to the bar or make a grand entrance as you descend the stairs at the main entrance.
Despite its rather grandiose size, the restaurant has a romantic and intimate feel to it. When you go, try to grab one of the comfy lounge couches near the waterfall. There is no better place in which to catch your breath from the hustle and bustle that is New York.

SummerGarden 1

Trees and planters that are filled with greenery are artfully situated among the tables. The bar itself is long and elegantly designed. There is plenty of space here to stretch out and socialize with your neighbor at the next stool if you are so inclined.

Shareable plates include the Mediterranean Garden Dip platter with hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki and a generous portion of pita bread. Thankfully, you won't have to fight with your friends over the last pita triangle.

The kitchen's signature share is the crispy, corn, flour crusted calamari with lemon wedges and remoulade. Another must-have app is the  Summer Garden Guacamole, made fresh from Hass avocados.
You can make a light meal out of the grilled asparagus platter. Your asparagus are topped with a perfectly cooked sunny-side up egg, crispy prosciutto and shaved Parmigiano.
The kitchen claims to make the best gazpacho soup in the city. If they don't, they are not far wrong. It is delicious and refreshing.

SummerGarden 2

Entrees range from striped bass, chicken Milanese and skirt steak to Atlantic Salmon with a Mediterranean farro salad.

The menu features a very special deal which they call " A light Lunch". For $ 24.00 you can select one dish from the appetizer and entrée sections of the Summer garden men. Selections include kale salad, today's soup, chilled gazpacho, grilled chicken wrap, penne pasta and shrimp chop-chop salad.
