Most Romantic Restaurants In Manhattan, NYC

New York City has some of the most romantic restaurants in the world.

In Manhattan, there's no reason to wait for Valentine's Day to treat your love to a memory-making romantic dinner. These enthralling establishments are your romantic oasis. And they're only a click or phone call away

Erminia - Upper East Side

At Erminia, they are fond of saying that, together with some very tasty Roman-inspired cuisine, romance is served here every day. And the owners here definitely know what they are talking about.

This rustic-designed spot has been the scene of numerous marriage proposals over the years. Many Upper East Side couples come here to celebrate their anniversaries.
Cozy and intimate, Erminia's decor transports you to an upscale ski chalet, the type of you might find at a resort in Cortina or Vail.

Erminia 1

In their state-of-the-art kitchen, the chef makes sure that the food lives up to the incredible ambiance, which is no small task.

Start your evening off with a delicious selection from the antipasto menu. Share a plate of tender Roman-style artichoke hearts, sauteed in extra virgin olive oil and garlic.
The baked eggplant with fresh mozzarella, parmesan and made-from-scratch tomato sauce is a dish that both you and that special someone will adore.

If pasta is your thing, then you'll want to try the pappardelle with asparagus tips and shrimp or the pillowy-soft gnocchi in a truffle cream sauce. Gluten-free pasta is available should you be keeping to a special diet.

Erminia 2

Among the secondi piatti (second plates or entrees) is a wonderful selection of veal, chicken and fish delights.
Possibly the most popular of these dishes is the perfectly cooked chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, eggplant and Provolone cheese. The chicken is lightly draped in a white wine sauce.

Salinas - Chelsea

Toast your love with a glass of delicious, imported Spanish wine while you both delight in the plush, upscale, townhouse ambiance here at Salinas.

The talk of the Chelsea neighborhood and a favorite of foodies all over the city, Salinas has been  enthralling  romantic couples since 2011, when they first opened their doors.

Salinas 1

A portion of the restaurant has been transformed into a gorgeous garden space, complete with fresh flowers on every table.
This delightful, outdoor-like room is crowned with a picturesque, retractable glass roof. Blue velvet banquettes are set against the limestone walls. There's even a  stone fireplace. How much more romantic can things get?
Well, just settle down in the adjoining main dining room or Salinas intimate bar and lounge area and let love bloom!

Chef and partner Luis Bollo, who previously helmed several Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, has created a menu of innovative tapas dishes, inspired by the regions of Spain.
But the chef's signature dishes focus on his contemporary version of the traditional Spanish paella and pasta offerings.

Salinas 2

Order three or four tapas plates for the table and you and your love will be good to go.These small plates are tasty and filling.
If you are in a veggie state of mind, then go for the flash-fried cauliflower and bay beets with yogurt and pimentos. The Pica Pica, which consists of beets, goat cheese and olives, served with a hunk of country bread, is another winner.

Most people who come here love the pork shoulder with butter beans and the white anchovies on multigrain toast. The tapas choices are seemingly endless and they're all good.

Now let's take a look at chef's famous fideos (pasta) and arroces (rice) selections.
These dishes are made to order and they are worth the wait.

Salinas 3

The Seco consists of bomba, free-range chicken, sepia, scallops, garden peas, octopus, prawns, monk fish, shitake mushrooms and chorizo, all in a light shrimp broth. Paella was never like this.
Chef Bollo's Fideos Negros is made up of squid ink vermicelli and sepia in a smoked aioli.
There is also a quinoa and artichokes plate that's worthy of your attention.

Casa Nonna - Theater District

What's a nice romantic dinner without a glass or two of wine to help set the mood? Casa Nonna, a sleek, sexy Italian restaurant just steps away from Times Square, has got you covered with a stellar list of imported Italian wines.

Casa Nonna, which means grandmother's house, in Italian, features a creatively prepared menu of traditional comfort dishes from Chef Atilio Ramos. A veteran of such acclaimed culinary establishments as Fiamma and Scarpetta, Chef Ramos demonstrates his passion for cooking in every dish that comes out of his kitchen.

CasaNonna 1

One of his most popular offerings is the crab cake appetizer, wich comes with smoked tomato chutney, salsa verde and baby mixed greens. At most restaurants, a dish of fried calamari is nothing to write home about. But not when it is prepared by Chef Ramos and his team. Here, the calamari fritti is accompanied by Julienne vegetables and a lemon-chive aioli.

Casa Nonna's pasta dishes blend the care that Grandma showed in using only the freshest ingredients for her family recipes along with a bit of contemporary culinary magic.
Just taste the rigatoni integrali, which is made with whole wheat pasta, wild mushrooms, butternut squash and sauvignon sauce with a dusting of Parmesan cheese. Chef Ramos elevates his potato gnocchi dish to another galaxy by adeptly mixing in house-made crumbled lamb sausage, Gaeta olives, eggplant and ricotta salata.

CasaNonna 2

Other menu highlights include the grilled swordfish with roasted peppers, Branzino with escarole and a fennel-spiced breast of duck that is accompanied by a crispy polenta cake and kale.

Your date will revel in the artfully decorated surroundings. A dark wood interior, terra cotta floors and  seductive lighting all combine for an eye-catching scene. A pizza bar with an elegant marble counter provides an intrigiuing view of the chefs at work in an open kitchen.

Periyali - Flatiron

At Periyali, a neighborhood favorite since 1987, you and your date will be treated like royalty. Hospitality and generosity are second nature to the Greek people, and these wonderful traits are on full display at this gorgeous restaurant.

The decor is chic and stylish. The restaurant could easily be the backdrop for a Vogue photo shoot.

Periyali 0

Snow-white walls and crisp white table linens are offset by colorful bouquets of flowers and potted plants that are tastefully arranged throughout the premises. During lunch, sunlight streams freely through an atrium-like glass roof in one corner of the restaurant. You and your love will feel as though you are dining in a seaside taverna on the island of Crete or Santorini. The effect is magical. There's no other word to describe the ambiance here.

Here, the timeless Prix Fixe of fresh seafood and Greek comfort cuisine defies all culinary trends. The master chefs at Periyali bring the authentic and deceptively simple cooking of the Greek Islands to downtown Manhattan. Treat your significant other to a Mediterranean feast that they will not soon forget. Periyali is currently offering a delicious and budget-friendly lunch and dinner Prix-Fixe menu. Both offerings consist of three courses with the lunch option coming in at only $28, while the dinner Prix-Fixe is still a very reasonable $38.

Appetizer choices include Avgolemeno soup, which is a favorite of Greeks and non-Greeks everywhere. You will delight in a bowl of chicken soup that is finished with egg and a touch of lemon. Seasoned Greek-style meatballs in a rich tomato sauce and charcoal-grilled octopus that's been marinated in red wine are both excellent choices to start off your meal.

Periyali 1

Main course selections run from Souvlaki Kotopoulo (grilled chicken and fennel kebab with vegetable couscous) to Mousakas, a hearty casserole dish with layers of eggplant, potatoes, ground lamb and bechamel sauce.
Both Prix-Fixe options feature Periyali's signature dish: Salmon with spinach and herbs that are wrapped in phyllo dough and served with stewed okra. You can't get any more authentic than that!

Dessert consists of the chef's special sweet or pastry of the day.

Appetizers are a main attraction at any restaurant that has Jean-Georges name on it and The Mercer Kitchen is no exception.
Some of the most popular appetizers are the chicken and coconut milk soup with Jasmine rice, the crab cake topped with slices of organic avocado, the organic whole, warm artichoke and the steamed shrimp salad in a champagne vinaigrette.

Surprisingly, entree selections are not as numerous as are your other choices from apps to table dishes. But nonetheless, you are sure to find something you will love. Like the organic spiced lamb chops with cucumber-yogurt relish, the sauteed black sea bass with fennel, an old-school dish of rigatoni pasta and meatballs, or Veal Milanese with escarole.

A veritable feast on a plate, this savory, grass-fed beef burger is topped with Pepper Jack cheese, a slice of avocado, crisp red onions and Russian dressing.
