Best Burgers in Brooklyn, New York

Best Burgers in Brooklyn, New York

The industrious and super creative Borough of Brooklyn just seems to excel at everything. It's no wonder that some of the city's best, handcrafted burgers can be found right here, in Brooklyn, New York.

Juanchi's Burger - Williamsburg

The burgers that you eat at Juanchi's are magical. There are just no other words to describe these succulent half-pound hamburgers and the special sauces that accompany them.

The chef behind these delicious burgers is Juan Carlos Aounback. Chef Juan's personal story is almost as captivating as are his addicting burgers.

Back in his native Venezuela, Juan worked as a cook at the local baseball stadium in Caracas. Always seeking to hone his skills as a chef, Juan wanted to spice up the menu at the ball park concession stand. Over time, the enterprising chef developed the tasty recipes that would eventually evolve into Juanchi's Burgers.

Besides the savory meat blend that Juan created, he also did a little experimenting with various types of breads and sauces. Very quickly, Juan's food made a major league impact on the local fan base and the lines at the concession stand grew  longer. This was ball park food that you could feel good about eating.

But, the chef had much bigger goals in mind. Juan had always wanted to come to America and test his culinary skills in the foodie capitol of the world, New York.
Settling in Brooklyn, Juan eventually realized his dream of owning his own restaurant, which he named after his only son. Juanchi's Burger is a warm, inviting spot that is all about great food, good music and a strong sense of community. The management actually encourages local artists to exhibit their works here.

What makes Juan's burgers so special? Just take a juicy bite out of  "The Caribe " and you'll have all the answers that you need.
That melty grilled white cheese, avocado slices, fried plantains and honey-ginger tarragon sauce does it every time.

The Original is the hamburger that jump-started Juan's career in Caracas. The chef's meat blend is enveloped with yellow cheese, bacon, onions and topped with a curry-BBQ sauce.

Breakfast is available all day when you order "The Sunny", which consists of a beef patty, American cheese, bacon, your choice of signature sauce and a drizzle of honey. Yes, it's a different taste to be sure, but this burger is absolutely on point.

Juanchi's has a very nice selection of craft beers and wine that will add the perfect touch to your meal. But, don't miss out on the refreshing fresh squeezed lemonade or the Venezuelan style beverage, Papelon.

Mooburger - Cobble Hill

Relatively new to the Brooklyn culinary scene, Mooburger has got what it takes to succeed long-term.
Residents of this hard-working, innovative borough have got a ton of choices when it comes to dining out. So, when local buzz spotlights one particular restaurant, you know that something special is going on in the kitchen.

That's definitely the case with Mooburger.  The décor is rustic-chic with some very unique touches. Whitewashed brick walls make the perfect backdrop for wooden tables and ceilings.  A handful of cozy booths is tucked away at the back of the restaurant. In some respects, the décor looks as though a talented Italian designer got hold of some of Ikea's better offerings and did his thing.

Variety reigns supreme here. there are at least fifteen different "burgers" to choose from.
The bacon classic features cheddar, bacon and a "garden" of lettuce and tomato, along with chipotle ketchup. The smokehouse burger highlights a mound of pulled pork atop a juicy beef patty together with Lettuce, tomato and an onion ring. They also have a Brooklyn Chili burger you will want to look into. This burger is crowned with savory, house-made chili, red onions and sour cream.
Mooburger
Creative burger alternatives include the Nova Scotia which is comprised of a salmon patty, wilted spinach, arugula and a delightful mustard crème Fraiche.
The Greek features a handcrafted lamb patty, pickled eggplant, tomatoes, feta cheese, an olive tapenade and, of course, Tzatziki sauce.

But, whatever you choose to order, do yourself a big favor and include a side of their delicious zucchini fries. You could almost make a meal of them. So good!

Wash your burger down with a Blue Marble Ice Cream organic shake or some organic apple juice. They also have unsweetened homemade iced tea and a fine selection of Boylan's sodas.

Dumont Burger  -  Williamsburg

This laid back bistro is the creation of Colin Devlin and Executive Chef Polo Dobkin, who were the team behind the original Dumont and Dressler. These talented restaurant veterans felt that the Williamsburg food scene needed a burger joint that, in addition to serving great hamburgers, also featured equally tempting dishes on the menu.
After all, man and woman do not live by burgers alone! Although that would not necessarily be a bad way to go through life.

Chef Polo carefully sources his hamburger meat and the results are as juicy and flavorful as can be. Now, they don't get too fancy here, with their burgers. Chef Polo believes hat a perfectly cooked burger, with the right blend of meat and seasonings, speaks for itself.
If a classic American burger is calling your name then Dumont is the place to satisfy those cravings.
DuMond
Most burger fanatics who eventually try the veggie burger here are surprised by how tasty and satisfying it is. Chef Polo makes his signature veggie burger with brown rice, bulgar, wheat, zucchini, red peppers, crushed pecans and sweet potato. Now you know why even carnivores love this dish.

Aside from the hamburgers, chef's  most popular dish is the Dumont Mac and Cheese, with radiator pasta, bacon, Parmesan, gruyere and Cheddar.
Also enormously popular is his market fish of the day gourmet sandwich and the citrus salad that's made with fresh greens, fennel, orange and grapefruit segments, slices of lime, walnuts, mint and a delightful orange vinaigrette.

Burger Village  -   Park Slope

Founded by four brothers who have a tremendous culinary background out on Long Island, Burger Village is all about Burger values. Sam, Nick, Vic and Ravi feel that Organic is the new healthy. Why feel bad about eating a burger because you don't really know what's in it? At Burger Village, you won't have to worry about things like that.

At Burger Village, they strive to deliver a better for you farm to fork experience.  The owners source everything on their menu, including their veggies and dairy, from local family-owned farms.
The hamburgers that you will enjoy here are pasture raised. antibiotic and hormone-free and are raised in a natural and humane environment. Being organic and sustainable means everything to the owners.

Tasty, organic veggie, black bean and mushroom burgers are also on offer and they are famous for their delectable organic soups and salads.  All of the crispy, delicious ingredients in your salad bowl, by the way, come from farms that do NOT use pesticides or herbicides.

It's no wonder that Park Slope families and foodies adore this welcoming restaurant that really cares about what you put in your tummy!

Patty choices include beef, turkey, lamb, elk, boar, chicken and ostrich. The interesting thing here is that each patty option has a suggested topping pairing. For example, the Village beef burgers' recommended pairing is " California Mystery" (cheddar, lettuce, tomato, roasted red peppers, guacamole and signature sauce).

Fresh chopped cilantro, green peppers, goat cheese and grilled onions with yogurt sauce go best with the savory lamb patty.

All cheese toppings are free and the prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients as well as the location. Park Slope is a wonderful neighborhood but it's far from cheap to live here.

You can get your patty on a gluten-free bun or inside of a whole wheat wrap. Or, you can go with a collard green or lettuce wrap. That's very, very cool.

The soups here are all organic and are a great way to start off your meal. Selections include chicken noodle, spicy tomato and garlic as well as minestrone.

Action Burger - Williamsburg

There is no other burger joint on the entire planet that even remotely resembles Action Burger. And that's not press hyperbole. That is a fact!

A Comic book, science fiction and video game themed restaurant, Action Burger was created and designed by Vlane Carter. A genuine Brooklyn renaissance man, Vlane is not only a restaurant owner and chef; he is the author of six science fiction books and comic books.  His published works are for sale through Amazon and Barnes and Noble Book Sellers.

Now, let's be real. Action Burger is not for everyone on every occasion. This isn't the kind of place where you are going to take your love on a one-year anniversary celebration. The atmosphere is colorful, to say the least. One feels as though one has wandered into a comic book shop or video game arcade...from the eighties or nineties. Nintendo rules here! There are even action toys and superhero figures serving as decorations.

That having been said, however; this is a fun place. And, anyway, where else can you play video games for free, while waiting for your meal.
While we're on the subject of food, let us just say that you are in store for some very good hamburgers and shakes.  Guy Fieri would absolutely love Action Burgers.

Vlane's best seller is the uber-delicious Pretzel  Burger. You will enjoy an Action-Burger patty that is blended with count 'em, 12 seasonings together with double bacon, cheddar and pepper jack cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles and spicy mayo.

The Skeleborg Soldier ,(named after one of Vlane's comic book characters), consists of a Philly cheesesteak-style chopped burger with jalapenos, grilled peppers and onions, bacon, a generous dollop of liquefied American cheese and BBQ fusion sauce. Tuck a couple of napkins under your chin for this bad boy!
ActionBurger
Vlane's Mac and Cheeseburger is outrageous. Your juicy burger patty is topped with not just a serving of macaroni and cheese but with mac n' cheese nuggets and bacon. Action sauce and nacho mustard are then, slathered all over the brioche bun. And, you are good to go. Talk about indulgence.

The Milk Shake Madness section of the menu features such standouts as the Pina Colada virgin, which is made with vanilla ice cream, pineapples and coconut juice.
The Peanut Shockwave blends vanilla ice cream with gobs of peanut butter. The Nutella dream will really float your boat with its' mix of Nutella vanilla ice cream and crushed butterfingers.

Before anything is placed on the menu, Vlane and his chefs like to taste test their creations on the staff as well as with regular customers. Feedback is important. The owner knows most of his customers by name and wants you to join the party.

A fun place with zero pretensions Action Burger does feel like your home away from home.
