Web Reviews & Ratings

Sabor De Cuba is one of the rising stars on the Cuban culinary scene in the Astoria neighborhoods. If you are looking for authentic Cuban food, served in a charming and friendly atmosphere, then Sabor De Cuba is as real as it gets.

Cuban cuisine is trending big-time among New York foodies and restaurant critics alike. Cuban comfort food has all of the delicious ingredients that  you look for in a meal including tasty and zesty spices and sauces, fresh veggies, seafood and slow roasted succulent meats. lately, Cuban themed restaurants seem to be popping up all over town.

The restaurant is family owned so you know that the Sabor team takes a great deal of pride in what they do. The ambiance is casual and contemporary. The cool, over sized, artfully framed mirrors and wall paintings add a really nice touch. At the same time however, the vibe here is distinctly old school Havana. Back in the day, before Castro took over, Havana rivalled Miami as a vacation destination for Americans.

Havana was all about good food and great times. So is Sabor de Cuba! Their dinner menu features some classic dishes as well as the Chef's own creations. Pernil is a staple dish that is enjoyed by Cubans everywhere. Cuban-Americans, as well as most customers, though, will want to know what the chef's secret is behind his superbly roasted Pork shank with rice and black beans. It's all in the seasoning!

Another standout entrée is the signature Pollo con Sabor. This dish consists of grilled chicken in an addicting coconut  mojo sauce that is served with arroz verde. If you like seafood the pescado Habana is highly recommended. You'll enjoy a generous portion of Mahi-Mahi in a Passion fruit sauce, accompanied by Maduros and coconut rice.

Who doesn't love to do brunch on the weekends? Well, having a little "me" time is even more of a treat at Sabor de Cuba. If their $27.95 bottomless brunch doesn't convince you, then a couple of forkfuls of their arepas guevara certainly will. This dish is a Cuban twist on eggs Benedict. Your eggs rest upon corn bread and are topped with slices of pernil and egg sofrito sauce. Another tempting brunch dish is El Campesino, which is comprised of mashed green plantains with salami, eggs and fried cheese. The kitchen also serves up a delightfully authentic Cuban sandwich. Forget the usual tired French fries that you get everywhere with brunch. The house Cubano comes with Yuca fries. While we are on the subject, the Desayuna Gajuira consists of a savory yuca chorizo hash topped with two poached eggs.

Enjoy true Cuban hospitality and expertly mixed drinks from their cute little bar.

Come take a trip to Cuba with Sabor de Cuba's authentic cuisine, tapas infused with Latin flavors, and fine craft beer and wines!

With an intimate atmosphere and flavors that you won't find anywhere else in Astoria, Sabor de Cuba is an excellent dining destination. Our own Chef Carlos has designed a menu that brings you a taste of casual Cuban food with a flair. Start things off with one of our delicious appetizers (many of our guests recommend the coconut shrimp with cilantro sauce!) before diving into an amazing entrée like our juicy roast pork, flavorful Ropa Vieja, or a classic like paella. And of course, don't forget to pair your meal with a fine drink from our full bar! Try our signature Sanjito - a mix of both sangria and mojito - or a refreshing Hatuey Beer. Be sure to join us for Sunday brunch with unlimited sangria, mimosas, and belinis! The perfect way to wind down your weekend.

Not bad

I heard flights to Cuba are going to start! In the meantime I have Sabor De Cuba right here in Astoria :). I went here once and thought the food and drinks were good. I have other Astoria places I will pick before this place, but I will still give it a thumbs up overall.
