MP Taverna Greek Restaurant - Astoria, NY

MP Taverna in Astoria is Chef Michael Psilakis' hip, contemporary take on the traditional Greek tavern.

Chef Michael of MP Taverna has created a warm and welcoming environment where friends can get together for drinks and appetizers, couples can enjoy the perfect setting for a romantic date, and families can spend quality time during brunch. During the warmer days of spring and summer, the Taverna's floor to ceiling glass doors and windows open, enhancing your dining experience.

With the cool breeze flowing by and sunlight streaming in, the entire restaurant takes on the beautiful, relaxing ambience of an outdoor patio. And if you need just one more excuse to indulge your senses at MP Taverna, it's the Dusk & Twilight Happy Hour which takes place every day from 3 to 6 PM. All tap beers are half-price, while house red and white wine goes for only $5 a glass, as do the specialty cocktails. We are talking about premium cocktails that most restaurants don't feature doing Happy Hour.

It's the really good stuff! Equally fine foods like oysters, mouth-watering gyro-spiced sliders and MP wings with buffalo chipotle yogurt and olive oil-lemon sauce can be enjoyed at a great discount. Pichers of the fabulous mimosas and Bloody Marys are only $20. The brunch menu includes Chef Michael's much talked about Greek Paella.

A combination of shellfish, spicy lamb sausage and orzo instead of rice. Another must-try is the country "cast iron" breakfast. You get three baked eggs, Greek pork sausage, bacon, roasted tomatoes, potatoes a La Plancha and grilled pita. Chef Michael has succeeded in creating an authentic taverna atmosphere with innovative but traditional dishes that are the hallmark of the Hellenic people.
