Aperture is one of Brooklyn's most talked-about restaurants serving delicious Italian comfort food that is the specialty of the house.

Brooklyn is known as a borough that has exceptional bites and sips at some of the trendiest, most buzzed-about restaurants and cafes in the city. For Aperture to achieve the reputation that it has among foodies everywhere, says a lot about both the stellar food and service.

Aperture represents the culmination of a life-long dream for owner Alfred Varricchio. Alfred wanted to bring to life, for his customers, the hearty Sunday dinners that he enjoyed while growing up in a typical Italian family. He has done this and more. You don't feel as though you are dining in a restaurant, but at the Varricchio family home. That is how well you are taken care of. This is traditional Italian food done right.

Appetizers include eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms (remember how good they tasted at Grandma's house?), broccoli rabe with sausage as well as a generous platter of either hot or cold antipasto. Sunday dinner style soup selections include pasta fagioli, minestrone as well as escarole and beans. But leave room for some of Aperture's Pasta Classics.

Ravioli, lasagna, baked ziti and fettuccini alfredo are all on the menu. Alfred, however, is particularly proud of his specialty, signature pastas. Highlights include the fusilli boscaiola (made with San Marzano tomatoes, prosciutto, fresh mushrooms, peas and a touch of basil), rigatoni amatriciana with tomatoes, pancetta and fresh garlic and their most popular dish, by far, pappardelle alla aperture. This feast on a plate consists of shrimp, spinach, Fontina cheese, san marzano tomatoes, blended with a light cream sauce.

Meat dishes are tasty and bountiful with a special emphasis on chicken and veal. The chicken cacciatore comes on the bone and is dressed with sautéed onions, mushrooms, white wine and tomatoes. The veal marsala is topped with fresh mushrooms and prosciutto (not very traditional, but quite good), in a delicious wine sauce.

The kitchen does wonders elevating such tried and true classics like shrimp scampi and shrimp oreganta to new heights. If you are planning a family gathering or party at your home, let the chefs at Aperture do the cooking for you. They are experts at catering and will hit all the right culinary notes.

Treasure the moment, when you and your loved ones dine at Aperture.

Aperture is the lifelong dream of Alfred Varricchio. Alfred was born and raised by Anthony and Rose, both first generation Italians who instilled strong family values and the Italian traditions that were taught to them by their parents.

Every Sunday the Varricchio family would gather for an Italian Feast that was prepared by Alfred’s grandmother and grandfather, Elisa & Alfredo. Dinner would begin around one o’clock in the afternoon starting with an assortment of Italian Cheeses, Meats, Peppers, Olives, Breads, commonly known as “Antipasto”. The wine would flow and everyone would tell stories. Uncle John, Alfred’s Godfather, would always tell the best jokes while everyone gathered and ate together all; as a whole family.

I love the pizza. It is thin crust and I can tell they use high quality ingredients. The sauce is perfect, not too sweet. I get the Margarita pizza with onions it is the best.

This is a great Italian restaurant. I love everything, but my most favorite thing here is the pizza. It is one of those brick oven, thin crust, Naples Italy style pizza. I like my pizza crispy and not with a thick dough, so this is my place.

I do not live in this neighborhood and randomly tried this place out. I had the chicken biardino and rigatoni filetto, and it was the best chicken i EVERRR had! The chicken was seasoned just right and it was juicy. I hope i find a place like this closer to where i live..
