Gotham West Market - Hell's Kitchen, NYC

Food Halls like the Gotham West Market in New York's Hell Kitchen, have become a showcase for young, up and coming chefs who do not yet have a brick and mortar location. Hey, the buzz has to start somewhere.

Gotham West Market - Hell's Kitchen, NYC

Located in one of the fastest growing neighborhoods in the city, Gotham West Market is located just a few blocks from the Javits Center and the beautiful Hudson River Green Way.

This spectacular food hall and market is on the ground floor of a brand-new luxury apartment tower, Gotham West. Foodies from all over Manhattan are discovering what local residents have known all along. No matter what your taste in food may be, you're certain to find a dish that you will fall in love with at Gotham West Market.

With cavernous ceilings and gorgeous picture windows that allow natural sunlight to flood in, the ambiance is open and welcoming. You might walk in here in a hurry, as is the habit of most hustle and bustle New Yorkers.

But the minute your senses take in the sights and aromas emanating from the various food stalls and kiosks, you'll slow down and want to stay awhile.

A great example of what we're talking about is Genuine Roadside, an eatery that serves American comfort classics with a twist or two. Their creative menu riffs off the fare that you would find at roadside cafes and eateries across America, from sea to shining sea.

Signature dishes range from a cider braised pulled pork sandwich, a spicy smokehouse burger and grilled shrimp tacos to a delicious fried green tomato sandwich. And, of course, you'll also find an incredible buttermilk battered chicken plate. This is genuine Americana at its' best.

The must-have side bite are the Aces High Dill Pickle Fries. You can wash it all down with your choice of thick, creamy, luncheonette style milk shake s, beer, wine or cocktails.

Chef Ivan Orkin, the world's foremost expert on Ramen, chose Gotham West Market to debut the Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop, one of his first restaurants outside of Japan. Ivan's classic Ramen dish includes one complimentary topping, scallions and his celebrated rye noodles. Toppings include baby corn, bok choy, bamboo shoots and a soft boiled egg.

The delectable Tokyo Shio Ramen is made with a delicate Dashi chicken broth, sea salt and pork belly. Chef's Veggie Shoyu Ramen consists of a light vegetable soy broth, enoki mushrooms, field greens and tomatoes.

Ample Hills Creamery has long been a go-to place for Brooklyn residents who can't get enough ice cream. Now, thanks to their booth at Gotham West Market, the rest of the city can see what all the fuss is about.

Their frozen treats are crafted in small batches, using only the finest ingredients. With  flavors like deep, decadent dark chocolate, salted crack caramel and ooey gooey butter cake, it's no wonder that Zagat rated Ample Hills Creamery as being the #1 ice cream shop in New York.

Waffle De Lys offers authentic Belgian waffles and crepes with a French touch. These light as a feather treats are topped with your choice of fresh fruit, whipped cream, nuts and chocolate.  It's definitely something to look forward to as you struggle through your work day.

You have never had chicken like the bird that's waiting for you at Whirlybird, whose menu was designed by chef Seamus Mullen.

You can feel good about eating here; really, really good! All of their chickens are sourced from small family owned farms and are pastured and completely free of antibiotics and hormones.

Chef Mullen and his team cook with olive oil, coconut oil and avocado oil, using organic produce whenever possible. The Whirlybird menu is gluten and sugar-free and they also offer dairy, nut and vegetarian options.

Come in and enjoy your half or whole bird on the premises or take your chicken home and binge watch Netflix. It's entirely up to you. But please make sure that you include one of chef Mullen's fabulous sides like the dirty mushrooms, cauliflower "rice" or broccoli rabe with chiles.
