Cavo - Astoria, NY. The only club of it's kind in Astoria, Cavo is all about celebrating the moment and enjoying life to the fullest. The good times roll all night long at this Euro-style lounge and club.

From the outside, it looks as though there is really nothing that special about the place. But once you walk through the door, your eyes will open wide. The décor is colorful and opulent to say the least. Some might say garish. Depends on your taste. The restaurant and lounge area is spacious, which is good, because things can get extremely crowded in here, very fast. That's when Cavo can feel just a little like Times Square on New Year's eve.

Your best bet is to come in, just after they open around six or seven pm, before the party all night crowd takes over the place. You'll then be able to enjoy a relatively quiet dinner with your date or friends.

Cavo's kitchen does have a few pleasant surprises in store, although the menu is rather limited in scope. Regulars advise their friends that you can't go wrong with the skirt steak platter that features a feta cheese potato crunch. You can also play it safe with the signature Cavo burger with foie gras and Kasseri cheese, on top and a side of Greek Fries. The crumbled chunks of Feta make all the difference. The chef's Ravioli, stuffed with four Greek cheeses, in a white truffle essence is as adventurous as it gets here. That having been said, the ravioli are delicious.

If you are lucky enough to catch the eye of one of the bartenders, who admittedly DO mix a great drink, then you can enjoy one of Cavo's signature  cocktails. Most everyone opts for their Sangria, which is filled with luscious pieces of fruit. If you come with a group of friends, though, order a pitcher of sangria. It's a better value than ordering by the glass.

Other recommended drinks include the cucumber basil Collins, Cavo's secret recipe chocolate martini, the delicious Pomegranate Martini and their Raspberry sparkletini with fresh raspberries and sparkling wine. The best spot in which to enjoy your food and drinks, however is in Cavo's gorgeous outdoor garden. You will feel transported to another world here. Greenery is everywhere and there is a waterfall flowing over one of the walls. This has to be one of the most spacious and beautiful gardens anywhere in the city. The garden is four stars. It's a lot quieter there than it is inside, especially on Friday or Saturday night and very romantic.
