Sports Bars Astoria - Sweet Spot

Sweet Spot Astoria, NY. It's no accident that Sweet Spot Restaurant & Sports Bar, is the newest and best success story of any sports bar in Astoria.

The thing that most of us have in common is that a fun night out and great food always hits the spot. Now, everyone's sweet spot can be found in the heart of Astoria, just steps from the N/Q Subway line. Sweet Spot sporting lounge and restaurant is a long awaited and welcome addition to Astoria's night out on the town scene. Ditmars certainly has no shortage of cafes, lounges, restaurants and bars. However, by offering an upscale Midtown Manhattan-style atmosphere, Sweet Spot has managed to carve out its own identity offering food and drinks at a price that just feels good.

Talk to your office pals and, one weekend, invite them over for brunch at Sweet Spot. Come Monday, you'll be the "brunch herd" when your friends tell the rest of the office about that hot, new brunch place they discovered... thanks to you. Although, you can't really take credit for the delicious Banana French Toast, waffles and ice cream or the baked eggs with spinach, tomatoes and bacon. Props for these tasty dishes justly belong to Sweet Spot's kitchen crew. The chefs here are synonymous with the word... amazing. Whether you are brunching, lunching, snacking or having dinner, everything on the menu is a winner.

Your date for the evening will love you even more, while appreciating your good taste; when you order the boneless, antibiotic-free charcoal chicken or the sesame-crusted Ahi tuna, served with whipped potatoes and asparagus. You can also go Mediterranean with Sweet Spot's reinvented Greek classic jumbo chicken souvlaki with delicately flavored jasmine rice and veggies. The homemade spinach pie here rivals anything you will find in Ditmars' Greek bakeries. Spanakorizo, a seasoned blend of rice and spinach, cannot always be found on the menu of Greek restaurants, but here they excel at this traditional Greek dish.

The freshly-cut Greek fries (sprinkled with feta and oregano), go with just about any of the burgers, steaks or sandwiches on the menu. They stand alone with no Ketchup needed! The cocktail menu rivals anything you would expect to find at the higher-end lounges and bars in Soho. They serve creatively mixed drinks that after draining your glass you'ld want to order again.

The Honey Palmer takes Arnold Palmer's famed iced tea to another universe. Delicious and thirst quenching, the Honey Palmer mixes some Jack Daniels, Honey with just the right amount of iced tea and lemonade. Their signature cocktail is The Sweet Spot. Refreshing and intriguing, this drink consists of Ciroc Amaretto, Vodka, lime juice, a splash of grenadine and lemon/lime soda. The Taj cocktail crowns your glass with Bombay Sapphire, Chambord along with lemon and cranberry juice.

The mixologists are great at bringing together different flavors, unusual ingredients and making it work in perfect harmony. The fact that the barkeeps utilize fresh fruit in many of their cocktails is a definite plus. Sweet Spot is one big party palace, with over 7,000 feet of floor space. The main bar room has some very nice booths alongside the wall. When the weather's nice, the servers open up the front of the restaurant. You can sit at the bar or at a table and watch the human drama unfold on 31st Street. Brick walls, reclaimed lumbar, mirror-like glass tiles and a fire place all contribute to the inviting ambience and decor.

The rear dining room is a sight to behold; featuring a 25-foot skylight, as well as the afore mentioned custom backlit fireplace. HDTVs are everywhere, including the restrooms, so you'll never lose touch with your game. Later in the evening, the spotlight turns to the beat master who is at the controls at state of the art DJ booth. A little music makes the meal and keeps the party mood flowing effortlessly.

The savvy and experienced team behind Sweet Spot know what it takes to please their customers. Entrepreneurs George Dimou and Harry Panagiotopoulos opened Igloo Cafe in 2001 jump-starting Ditmars' thriving cafe scene. To create the environment they visualized, George and Harry brought in designer Chris Kofitsas. A true artist who uses empty rooms and buildings like a painter's canvas, Chris simply outbid himself with the decor and architecture of Sweet Spot. If you've been to ABC kitchen, Provocateur or the Gansevoort Hotel, then you've already experienced the "World" of Chris Kofitsas. It's a beautiful, engaging and eye opening place to eat or party in.

When you need to get away from the everyday and step up in class for your evening out, then Sweet Spot has to be your destination to eat, drink and be merry.
