Best 7 Brunch Spots in Chelsea - NYC

Best 7 Brunch Spots in Chelsea - NYC

Just a few short blocks of the High Line these extremely appealing restaurants in Chelsea, offer delicious brunch at a very fair price, with most dishes on their brunch menu coming in at only twenty dollars or under.

The creation of the High Line gave quite a boost to Chelsea, which was already an up and coming neighborhood, back in 2006. This architectural marvel, with grass, plants and flowers adorning almost 1.5 miles of an abandoned, old, elevated railroad track, has over the years attracted millions of New York residents and tourists, alike.

An urban promenade or aerial park, the High Line was developed in three stages and was not considered to be a finished work, until 2014. Many of the restaurants in the area have been around for some time. They are part of the neighborhood's fabric. Others were opened as a result of the High Line and the real estate development of both Chelsea and the nearby Meat Packing district.

Trestle on Tenth - NYC

Trestle on tenth is a beautiful restaurant that is inspired by the fields, forests and flavors of chef-owner Ralf Kuettels native Switzerland.

Located directly across from the High Line, Trestle on Tenth offers traditional Swiss cuisine with an innovative touch.

tipsyparson 1
The exposed brickwork and rustic décor are hip and on point. There's no corny Swiss chalet type of atmosphere.
As far as Chef Ralf is concerned, the hospitable and courteous service is as important as is the food. He genuinely wants you to feel as though you are an honored guest in his home.

Chef's brunch menu is a delight. There is a great deal of variety. The pastries and sweets section includes addicting homemade cinnamon sticky buns, almond croissants and his signature banana stuffed and almond crusted French toast with Rosemary-maple syrup.

The Bure-Rosti plate consists of  Swiss onion and bacon potato hash with house-made pork sausage, melted cheese and two fried eggs.

TrestleOnTenth 1
Regulars rave about the duck confit hash with poached eggs and sauce bearnaise'. For something different, try the three-herring plate with warm Yukon gold potatoes, apples and onions, an authentic taste of Switzerland.
Side dishes are delicious and unique. You will love the gratineed pizokel with caramelized onions and gruyere' cheese. The paprika dusted French fries are out of this world. They are accompanied by a mustard-mayonnaise sauce that is great for dipping.

The Tipsy Parson - NYC

Brunch, lunch and dinner take on a different kind of style when you enter the intriguing premises of the Tipsy Parson.
Bravo's "Top Chef" Ty-Lor Boring's inventive dishes emphasize seasonal ingredients. This is a very contemporary version of traditional Southern cooking.

tipsyparson 1

The place has a refined but never intimidating vibe. It's almost as though you were invited to dine at the home of a Southern Gentleman and his family. One has wallpaper that depicts books on shelves. The décor does have a funky twist to it. Very visual and quite enjoyable.

The motto here is... belly-filling goodness. Morning, noon and night. And they certainly live up to their claim. Chef Ty-Lor calls his dishes refined comfort food. Whatever description that you choose to use, everything that comes out of the kitchen here is delicious.

Most of the brunch plates come in at well under twenty dollars. These delightful dishes, though, are worth every penny.

You might want to start with  Chef's famous biscuit bomb, which is outrageous. It is a buttermilk and chive biscuit that's stuffed with house made country sausage and New York sharp cheddar.

Egg selections include the Farmstand, which consists of poached eggs, pesto, seasonal veggies, greens, almonds and breadcrumbs. The BBQ pork spoon bread is made up of Berkshire pork butt, fried eggs and Carolina BBQ sauce.
Another dish that you will want to look into is the mushroom toast with herb ricotta, soft scrambled eggs and kale on grilled potato bread.

TipsyParson 2

Sides are usually relegated to a supporting role. But, Chef's side dishes are worthy of a starring role.  The best of the bunch are the red corn hush puppies with pimento cheese, the deviled eggs and the cheddar cornbread with green tomato marmalade.

Tablespoon - NYC

Tablespoon is a farm to table restaurant that blends old-school culinary methods and traditional values with a passion for creativity.

Melissa and her team gain inspiration from the old way of doing things in the kitchen, but they don't live in the past. One of Melissa's joys is taking generations' old family recipes and adding her own spin to them.
One thing, though, that will always be in vogue at Tablespoon is the chef's devotion to locally sourced, fresh ingredients. All of the meats and fish that you enjoy at Tablespoon are obtained from trusted, local purveyors. Whenever possible organic products are incorporated into  Tablespoon's dishes.

SpoonTable 1

All of the tasty and crunchy fresh veggies and succulent fruits that the kitchen uses come from Mountain Dell Farms, in upstate New York.

Melissa and her team have recently re-vamped their brunch menu, making a good thing, that much better.

Brunch entrees are fairly priced and the majority of dishes are under twenty dollars.

Their breakfast skillet is so good it will make you forget the skillet breakfasts that you may be used to eating at the big name national chains. The Tablespoon signature skillet is filled with herbed shiitake mushrooms, russet potato hash,  seasoned pork sausage and fresh spinach. And, get this; it's all topped with two eggs and a Parmesan crust. Yum-Yum!

Their menu has around a dozen selections to tempt you and make you keep coming back for Brunch. Options range from Eggs Espana (with Manchego cheese and pico de gallo), a delicious bacon, egg and cheese Panini, pan-seared brook trout with grits and a traditional lox and bagel plate to their house Angus beef burger and a lemony Bibb salad. The greens are topped with feta cheese, artichoke hearts, grape tomatoes and roasted eggplant.

SpoonTable 2

You may also complete your brunch with a scone and muffin basket. Tablespoon is a throwback, classic breakfast and lunch place. It is very much a lost part of Americana.
