We discussed a variety of topics, including his passion for business.

An entrepreneur as well as an artist, Rafael grew up in Hempstead, Long Island. The son of first-generation immigrants from the Dominican Republic, Rafael is a University of Albany graduate with a degree in business. Over the years, Rafael has parlayed his blue collar upbringing and street smarts into numerous successful business ventures, including real estate.

　
Rafael explained that, even though he has done tattoo art in the past, he now prefers to focus on the business side of BLT. It's a 24/7 job and one that he loves. When engaging his customers for feedback, Rafael reads their emails and talks to his clients. Suggestions for improving the overall customer experience are always welcome. Body Language gets a great deal of business from referrals. Loyalty, Rafael feels, is definitely a two-way street. Speaking of loyalty, Rafael is also a true blue and orange Mets fan. Baseball is a great way for this busy entrepreneur to unwind.

　
Nicole represents the creative side of the partnership. Co-owner of BLT, Nicole is the living definition of what a tattoo artist should be. Nicole started drawing at age three and loved to enter art contests sponsored by newspapers such as Newsday. Earning a bachelor's degree from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, Nicole studied art education at Queens College. Nicole also had the chance to expand her artistic horizons by traveling to Florence, Italy and Madrid, Spain. Nicole was introduced to the art of tattoo while working as a teacher. Right then this multidimensional artist knew she had found her life's calling.
　
That's one of the reasons Body Language is built on such a solid foundation. Nicole and Rafael's diverse backgrounds, skills and expertise complement one another. And, the owners lead their team by example.

If you are thinking about body piercing, one member of the team who you should get to know is Tiffany. Tiffany is Body Language's piercer and she is on the premises Wednesday from 1-6 PM as well as Friday and Saturday from 1-9 PM. Tiffany began to experiment with body piercings at a young age. It was acupuncture that made Tiffany realize how comfortable she was with needles.
　
After meeting Rafael and Nicole, this aspiring body art piercer learned different techniques from experienced artists and became certified in blood borne pathogens. BLT is truly a collective of artists who take pride in their work and want you to look and feel your best. Body art goes way back in the annals of history.
