B Flat - Tribeca, NYC

If you are looking for something a little different and unusual, you have most certainly come to the right place. The concept behind B Flat is unique, even for a city as diverse as New York.

B Flat

A very cool, high-end Jazz lounge and cocktail bar, B Flat offers a unique and deliciously creative cocktail list created with flair and ingenuity by Shinichi Ikeda. Many of his cocktails are inspired by Japanese recipes and ingredients. As befits the musical moniker B Flat, the lounge regularly presents live music for your enjoyment. The Rice Cookers, a trending indie/alternative rock band, recently performed two shows at the venue. On Mondays and Wednesdays, B Flat presents live Jazz in the spotlight, from 8-11 PM.

B Flat 2

Happy Hour takes center stage Monday through Saturday from 5-7 PM. Selected beers go for $5 while some high-quality reds and whites can be purchased for only $7. Many of the bar's premium cocktails can be had for an absolute bargain price of only $9, during Happy Hour. They do a really authentic Whiskey Sour, consisting of Bourbon, lemon, sugar, orange bitters and lemon peel. B Flat's mixologists stay true to a decades-old formula with their rendition of the classic Bee's Knee's, a perfect blend of Gin, lemon and honey. Their daily cocktail list has over twenty different drinks to choose from. Their signature cocktail is the Moment's Notice, which, inspired by lead bartender Shinichi Ikeda's roots, consists of Sake, creme de peche, plum wine and yamamomo. The Groovy blends shiso infused Vodka with yuzu and a shiso leaf. The Central Park West is as classy as it sounds. This drink consists of Fords Gin, Suze, lemon, velvet falernum, sparkling wine and orange bitters.

Smith and Mills - Tribeca, NYC

Cozy and intimate with a really chill vibe, Smith and Mills is located in what was formerly a turn of the century carriage house. This is as New York as it gets. There is a ton of charm to this place. It's not big, but space is well proportioned and there is room for several tables and a cute bar, which is made from centuries-old wood. Smith and Mills is a great place to relax over a cocktail and enjoy a quiet conversation. The decor itself is an interesting conversation piece, with so many intriguing vintage touches.

SmithAndMills 1

Smith and Mills attract a hip crowd that is friendly and noise is kept to a minimum. If you like, the bartender will mix up a tasty Old Fashioned for you. Ingredients include Rye Whiskey, Angostura bitters, brandy cherries (yes, can you add one or two more, please?), a sugar cube and a slice of orange.

One of their more popular selections is the Pimm's Cup. Pimm's Liqueur is blended with Cointreau, mint, fresh Lime juice, cucumber and ginger soda. The Vesper is comprised of Gin, Vodka, Lillet Blanc and a twist of lemon. Extremely refreshing and tasty is the Negroni, an expert mix of Gin with Campari and sweet vermouth. It's not too sweet despite the ingredients.

SmithAndMills 2

The small bites that are served here are both creative and delicious. A few Lunch and brunch selections that are, indeed, worthy of your notice are the poached chicken club sandwich, a savory hamburger, topped with cheddar, caramelized onions and Russian dressing, that comes with house-made chips and the softly scrambled plate with ham and spinach puree. The chef also does a nice and healthy celery root soup, that you're sure to enjoy.

Ward III - Tribeca, NYC

This neighborhood favorite is the perfect place to drop in for drinks after work or to top off your evening after a concert or dinner. The setting is both warm and theatrical, with drapes decorating the windows and large, vintage mirrors adorning the bar's brick walls. There's also some very comfy black leather sofas and couches to relax on. And the tables are lit by small candles.

WardIII 1

Ward III was founded in 2009, by a group of professional bartenders who combined their ideas on just what a great neighborhood bar be. Obviously, these guys knew what they were doing, since Ward III is one of the most popular bars in a neighborhood that has no shortage of watering holes.

Good food always compliments a great cocktail and Ward III's kitchen has some savory bites. Sandwiches include a Beef Melt (with braised beef, aged Cheddar and pickled Jalapenos) served on warm Pretzel bread and the Cuban Relations a knock-your-socks-off meal between two pieces of fresh bread. This sandwich consists of roast pork, Berkshire ham, Swiss cheese, house-made pickles and jalapenos. Small plates and snack selections include Deviled eggs, accompanied by smoked trout, hot toddy caramel corn and the fried buttermilk chicken tenders.

WardIII 2

The house cocktail list is long and varied. Their signature cocktail is, what else, but the Ward III. This lively libation consists of Heaven Hill Bourbon, Apple, Lime, an egg white and cinnamon. The Knickers and a Twist is a delightful blend of Earl Grey tea infused vodka, Giffard apricot, a touch of honey, orange, lemon, egg white and Angostura Bitters. One sip and you will be transported to another place. The Pretty in Pink is refreshingly different. El Dorado White Rum is blended with grapefruit juice, bitters and sparkling wine for a cocktail that will be the highlight of your evening. It's that good.

Lazy Point - Tribeca, NYC

One of the coolest cocktail bars in Tribeca, Lazy Point has achieved an enviable reputation for being New York City's Happy Place. Lazy Point is a gathering place for both, locals and those from other neighborhoods in the city who can't wait to get the party started with great drinks and food to match.

LazyPoint 1

There is a distinct nautical theme to Lazy Point. The owners refer to the bar's decor as urban beach house chic. They are definitely on point. The colors are bright and the vibe is carefree. If you don't have a beach house to escape to in the summer time or are yearning for surf and sand during those cold winter days, then Lazy Point's ambiance will transport you to Montauk or the Hamptons.

LazyPoint 2

They carry a great selection of beer, featuring quality, craft labels and stalwarts such as Whale's Tale, Narragansett, Purple Haze, Stella Artois and Six points Sweet action. Lazy Point's cocktail list is concise and the various mixes and blends are guaranteed to lift your spirits. Take your mood to another level with The Volstead. Fresh strawberries decorate this delightful blend of Reyka Vodka, Prosecco and Elderflower. The aptly named Walk of Shame contains a generous pour of Ford's Gin along with lemon, orange blossom, cinnamon Bark and a pinch of salt.

LazyPoint 3

You definitely won't go hungry here either. Bar snacks include Lazy Point's signature Fish Tacos and Cured Salmon with dill, horseradish and mustard. They also serve some of the best Oysters in town. The Montauk pearls with seasonal peach Ginger Mignonette are bite- ized morsels of scrumptiousness. Apotheke - Chinatown, NYC

Apotheke is hands-down worth the short walk or ride from neighboring TriBeCa. When you enter Apotheke, you will think that you have wandered onto the set of a movie or Off-Broadway play. Your entire experience at Apotheke is designed to be theatrical in the extreme and you will love every minute of your time here.

Apotheke

The mixologists wear old-fashioned pharmacists whites. The thirty-foot bar is made from imported Carrara marble and the shelves behind the bar are filled with hundreds of antique medicine bottles that were collected from around the world. The bartenders are acutely aware that they are on stage and want you to enjoy the show, as they mix and pour. These are "not quite so mad" scientists (or pharmacists) at work. Cocktails are served in some very uniquely shaped glasses of Austrian crystal.

Apotheke 2

Apotheke is inspired by the Nineteenth Century Parisian pharmacies and absinthe dens. Hence the Victorian pharmacy theme. The bar's Prescription list (cocktail menu) is intoxicating and very very different. All of their ingredients are made in-house, using organic and local produce, herbs and botanicals. The bartenders shop at local Greenmarkets and also make extensive use of Apotheke's rooftop herb garden.

Apotheke 4

Their prescription list is quite entertaining and is divided up into categories like Health and Beauty, Stress relievers, Aphrodisiacs and Euphoric Enhancers. The Catcher in the Rye is comprised of Jim Beam Rye, Amaro Nonino, house-made chamomile bitters, and Bowmore Scotch Mist. Dr. Ruth, (they do have a sense of humor, here), contains Absolut vodka, rosemary, California strawberries, lime, agave and Champagne. One of their most popular cocktails is the Good Fortune, which mixes Absolut vodka with lychee, Tonic water, lemon, agave and Grenadine.

Apotheke 3

Apotheke offers some fun, hands-on mixology and cocktail classes. Even if you don't have any professional aspirations, you should look into these classes. They're especially good for birthday celebrations or after work team-bonding. One thing is for sure after you have been to Apotheke, you'll never see a cocktail bar the same way again.
