Best Hotels in Midtown Manhattan, NYC

When you book a guest room at one of the fine boutique hotels in Midtown Manhattan, you are assured of being at the center of it all!

Hotel Shocard - Midtown West

Within the Times Square and Theater District neighborhood, there are literally dozens of hotels, both large and small, to choose from.

When planning a business trip or vacation in the Big Apple, one's head can literally spin when trying to decide which hotel is your best option. Countless pros and cons abound when you are attempting to make sense out of all the choices that are available.

As they say in Vegas and Atlantic City, it's all a bit of a crapshoot. When you are exploring unfamiliar territory, the odds are stacked against you.

But, that's not the case, however, if you narrow your internet search down to boutique accommodations like the Shocard, a Times Square hotel with a very personal touch.

The Showcard Hotel is your front seat to the glitz and glamour of Broadway.

You never know which celebrity you'll see entering the studio over at Good Morning America or sauntering into the stage door at one of the theaters that are just steps away from this personable and charming boutique hotel.

However, at The Showcard, the staff never forgets that you, the guest, are the star of the show. And that's not just marketing hyperbole, either.

Aside from fabulous and luxurious perks and amenities, at The Showcard you will have the opportunity to, literally, see your name up in lights!

Among the hotel's promotional offers is the See Your Name in Lights Package. When you book this extra special deal, you will be upgraded to King Bed accommodations and a personal message welcoming you will be displayed on the Showcard's marquee.

When night descends upon Gotham City, make sure to rev up that Instagram account and get your phone ready to capture your name ablaze in lights on the hotel's Broadway-worthy, majestic marquee.

There's no feeling like that in the world. You'll be the envy of your friends and family back home. And it's all courtesy of the Showcard Hotel!

Plan to get cozy and comfy in the exclusive Sho-Stopper Suite. You will have all the room that you need in this spacious oasis that is equipped with a king-size pillow-top bed and one full-size pull-out couch as well as a gorgeous bathroom with bathtub and rainfall showerhead.

There's also a wet bar on the premises and access to your very own private rooftop terrace. And, they're pet-friendly, too, so there's no need to deny your four-legged friend a trip to the big city! Have your little pooch or miss kitty jump in on some very adorable photos with your fabulous Showard guest room as a backdrop.

Enjoy on-site dining at Gleason's Tavern, an authentic pub with some of the best bites and sips in that neck of the woods.

At Gleason's, their motto is "Libations shall set you free". After a couple of hearty sips of the bar's delicious signature cocktails, you'll know exactly what they mean.

Get a suave Caribbean vibe going with the Barbados Airmail, a cocktail that consists of

Plantation pineapple rum, lime juice, simple syrup and Prosecco.

Maker's Mark, sweet vermouth, a dash of bitters and brown sugar make up Gleason's tasty version of the classic Manhattan libation.

No matter how exhausting your day has been, the delectable and super-refreshing Frosty Margarita, (Olmeca Altos, Combier Orange, grapefruit and lemon juice with a chilled salt rim), will absolutely revive and re-energize your senses.

Gleason's also has a very nice selection of premium craft draught beers at your disposal.

The kitchen offers quite a few delicious bar snacks and appetizers such as sesame fried calamari, a cantaloupe and cucumber salad with feta cheese, Prosciutto flatbread and whipped house-made ricotta that is accompanied by wildflower honey, toasted walnuts and grilled bread.

The restaurant's main course selections are flavorful and carefully sourced and crafted.

Pasta-lovers will delight in the Wild Boar Bolognese Tagliatelle with fresh-baked garlic toast and the mushroom-stuffed ravioli in a tomato and basil cream sauce.

Other temptations range from Blackened catfish with sweet potato mash and pan-roasted cod to a succulent NY strip steak together with smashed red bliss potatoes and a shallot confit.

Roommate Grace Hotel - Midtown West

Whether you're in town on a quick business trip or a week's worth of vacation, make the most of your stay in NYC at the Roommate Grace, a cute boutique hotel that rolls out the red carpet for each and every guest.

A proud part of the international Roommate brand, the Roommate Grace New York has a friendly, multi-lingual staff that really make you feel as though you are staying with a friend in their trendy, fashionable apartment. The engaging bell-hops, concierges and maids will make you smile from ear to ear. There are no strangers at Roommate Grace hotel.

It would be a cliche to say that Roommate Grace has all the comforts of home. Yes, they do have everything your heart desires; you'll want for nothing.

However, the hotel offers comforts that no Manhattan luxury condo or apartment could ever hope to match, as an in-house sauna.

Has the rapid-fire pace of the city got you dragging your feet to the point that you simply want to flop down somewhere and sleep for hours? Well, Grace's firm but comfortable beds will do the trick.

Prior, though, to bedding down for an afternoon nap or a good night's rest, why not relax and cleanse your body and soul inside the state of the art sauna?

As you sit back and allow the rising steam to envelop you, it won't be difficult to believe that, somehow, you've been transported straight to Finland or Sweden.

The sauna is open from nine in the morning until eight PM so there's plenty of time to take advantage of this amazing perk, no matter how busy your schedule may be.

No matter what the season is outside the walls of the Roommate Grace Hotel, any time is a good time to take a dip in their indoor pool.

Located near the Sauna, the Grace's swimming pool has a terrific, low-lit ambiance. Dare we say, a little romantic.

 room matehotels

There is even a fully-staffed and stocked bar that you can swim up to and order a beer, glass of wine or a smooth cocktail. Now that's life! And it's all happening at The Roommate Grace!

Take the plunge, seven days a week, from 5 until 11 PM.

If you are in town for business, always remember that it's never a good idea to sweat the small stuff, as any life and career coach will tell you. Let the flow take you where it will. You are the captain of your own destiny!

But, if you want to work up a real sweat, then, by all means, check out the gym, which is open twenty-four hours a day.

You'll have access to loads of cardio machinery and other stuff that is designed to give you the best workout possible. Unlike some other hotel gyms, which are kind of dark and not particularly inviting, The Grace's fitness center makes you feel welcome. You will love getting in some exercise here.

Now, let's take a look at the rooms and suites. A quick gaze will tell you that these accommodations, designed by Lorenzo Castillo, are definitely NOT your mom and dad's guest rooms.

The decor is funky with an eclectic, but always tasteful, blend of color schemes and material. Be sure to check out the incredible patterns on the wallpaper. Every room speaks to each individual guest in a different but equally enchanting way.

It's no exaggeration to say that you could tour all of the 139 rooms and not get bored. Now that's saying something. The level of cleanliness is outstanding as is the WiFi connection. Without those two items, it wouldn't matter how good the rooms may look.

The only drawback here is that there is no on-site dining or room service. The good news, though, is that breakfast, which many nutritionists say is the most important meal of the day, is all taken care of!

Your tummy will do flip-flops (in a good way), at the hotel's stupendous breakfast buffet. Open from 7 AM till noon time, the buffet has every breakfast favorite imaginable from cereal, fresh fruit, assorted pastries and bagels to a vast array of hearty and hot items.

If you don't see something that you're craving, just ask the breakfast chef and he will be happy to make it for you.

The front desk will also be happy to recommend more than a few restaurants in the immediate area where you can enjoy a delectable lunch or dinner. The staff is very careful where they refer you, so there are no worries there.

And, as long as you're on our website, don't forget to check out Aplez.com's various articles on great dining in the Theater District and along Times Square!

The Mansfield - Midtown West

This decidedly upscale boutique hotel has a rich and storied past that is interwoven with the glamorous history of New York's Fifth Avenue.

Located on famed Club Row, which at one time, was one of the most prestigious addresses in the city, The Mansfield stands on real estate that was previously an orphanage in the early 1800's, followed by a three-story brick stable.

The stable housed horses and carriages that belonged to the city's social elite who lived in the opulent mansions situated along Fifth Avenue. These enclaves of power were owned by families such as the Vanderbilts, Goulds and Whitney.

In 1903, architect James Renwick was commissioned to design what would become one of the most modern and exclusive hotels in Manhattan, The Mansfield. Renwick was the design mastermind behind numerous other iconic edifices like the New York Public Library and Saint Bartholomew's Church.

The original clientele of the hotel was composed of well-heeled bachelors, titans of industry and socialites.

Among the notables who stayed at The Mansfield were painter John Butler Yeats, who was the father of noted poet William Butler Yeats and wealthy man about town Max Von Gerlach. In literary circles, Max was known as the gentleman who was the inspiration for Jay Gatsby, from F. Scott Fitzgerald's timeless novel The Great Gatsby.

Today, The Mansfield still retains the turn-of-the-century flavor and Beaux Arts decor that made it one of the most desirable places in the city to stay.

The amenities may be contemporary but classical and effortless luxury abounds throughout the premises.

One of the hotels most sought-after event spaces is the Club Room. Located just off the lobby, this space was originally designed as the parlor, where formally dressed gents would engage each other in a game of chess or cribbage was downing a whiskey or glass of Madiera.

mansfieldhotel

Today, this library-like setting, complete with honey-colored hardwood, a fireplace along with sofas and armchairs that you can sink into, is available for private celebrations and cocktail parties.

When not in use for a corporate affair, the Club Room is open to guests to lounge and relax in. And, by the way, you can still play a game of chess here, while also enjoying a nice espresso as well as a delectable glass of wine or cocktail.

What kind of accommodations can you expect when you stay here? You will bask in old-world grandeur during every minute of your time spent here. While each room and suite has the flavor and style of 1900's New York, the ambiance is far from old-fashioned.

The Junior Queen Suite contains a separate living area replete with a work desk, coffee table, couch and leather easy chair. There's also a two-line speakerphone with voicemail which looks nothing like the Alexander Graham Bell-model phone that the swells and their ladies used at the Mansfield back in the day.

Besides a flat screen LCD Television, you can also treat yourself to a state of the art LodgeNet interactive on-demand video system. And, no, even the Vanderbilts didn't have that kind of amenity when they entertained out of town guests or partied at The Mansfield.

At 290 square feet, there's more than enough room for the two of you. The quaint and vibrant bedroom is separated from the living area by customized etched-glass French doors designed by Denise Amses of Amses Coma.

Your Queen-Sized bed is fitted with custom linens, a down comforter and a pillow-topped mattress.

You don't need to be a member of the Knicks or Brooklyn Nets to score a double-double in NYC! Just book The Mansfield's Superior Double-Double Room, which is perfect for couples on a romantic weekend getaway or leisure and fun seekers who need a little space.

This deluxe guest room offers a pair of full-sized beds as well as a very stylish mini- sofa that is built right into a window and wall nook. That's cute and functional.

A lively after-work spot, The M Bar is the place to reduce your stress levels and connect with your business colleagues or NYC friends and family.

With a captivating stained glass window design behind the bar, cool lounge furniture and seating, mahogany walls and a domed skylight, M Bar has an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of days gone by.

Yet, their cocktails are absolutely on trend. Open your tab with the devilishly good Sin City, a drink that is comprised of Vodka, fresh lime juice, maple syrup and mint. This cocktail is quite refreshing and is not at all as sweet as it sounds. The flavors are on point and well balanced.

Made with Ginger liquor, mint, bitters, lime juice and elderflower liquor, Ginger and Spice is an innovative, tasty, signature creation made especially for you by the bar's mixologist.

Just as refined and cosmopolitan as are your surroundings is Monaco, a blend of Campari, elderflower liquor, tequila, for a little-added kick and lime juice, an ingredient which the barkeeps here seem to be in love with. And why ever not? A splash of citrusy-good lime makes just about everything taste better.

The M Bar's hours of operation are from 5 till 11 PM. They are also open early in the morning, from 7 AM until 10 AM for Continental Breakfast.

For an old-world experience that is totally out of this world, book your room or suite at The Mansfield Hotel and enjoy New York from a unique perspective.

The Benjamin - Midtown East

When Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs and The Notorious B.I.G. rapped that "It was all about the Benjamins", they were referring to those crisp, new hundred dollar bills with our founding father Benjamin Franklin's face emblazoned on them.

But, they just as easily could have been talking about the value that YOUR Benjamins will get you at The Benjamin Hotel in midtown Manhattan.

When a great value for your money, a warm and welcoming ambiance and fantastic amenities enters the "where do we stay in NYC?" conversation, there's only one answer that makes sense; The Benjamin Hotel.

Fully redesigned by interior decorator Lauren Rottet along with a top to bottom renovation, The Benjamin sparkles as bright as a jewel, much as it did when the building first opened as a residential-style hotel, back in the day.

A modern, hip and vibrant heartbeat inside the hotel's Neo-Romanesque exterior.

An environmentally-friendly hotel, The Benjamin boasts low-flow fixtures, energy-efficient lighting, remote-control thermostats in every room and a state of the art recycling program that few hotels can match.

Their motto is,"Beat your best". The importance of restful sleep, nourishment for both the body and mind, exercise, personal care and living an inspired life are the five tenets that define The Benjamin's philosophy.

This approach is embodied in the One Touch guest service program. The concierge team here is on call 24 hours a day to ensure that all your needs are met in a New York minute.

And, you don't have to be a native New Yorker to know a sweet deal when you see one. The Benjamin just so happens to have a ton of extremely attractive offers that will have you returning again and again!

Attention weekend warriors and romantics everywhere! Charge up and replenish yourself for the week ahead by booking your stay for Saturday and Sunday while saving up to 25% on their best available rate. Please see their website for details.

The Beyond Breakfast deal includes a $50 food and beverage credit for two at celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian's on-site restaurant and bar The National.

Take advantage of one of the best family hotel offers in town with The Benjamin's American Girl Place Pajama Sleepover package.

The Snacks and Apps section of the menu contains tasty selections like steak tartare, the chef's special cheese board with tomato jam, Quince paste as well as a slice of fig and almond cake and chef Geoffrey's signature and totally outrageous Ugly Sliders.

These mini sandwiches on a bun are comprised of pickled jalapenos, house-made pickles and the chef's top-secret National sauce. Yes, they're hot and zesty. But, in a very good way.

There is a very nice list of entrees to choose from, including a savory cast iron chicken in a lemon-thyme jus that is accompanied by mashed potatoes and sauteed kale.

The hand-made fettuccine Amatriciana is topped with smoked bacon, caramelized onions and San Marzano tomatoes.

You will also enjoy The Zakarian burger. Instead of beef, your juicy patty is made with the very best blend of ground lamb. It's served with grilled Halloumi cheese, cucumber cole slaw, Harissa and yogurt dressing as well as hand-cut fries.

Cocktail time at The National Restaurant and Bar is brought to you by noted, award-winning mixologist Brian Van Flandern.

Live in the lap of luxury and sip cocktails like the indulgent Ticket to Cuba (rum, Campari, sweet vermouth, plum cherry jam and orange juice) or The National Mule, which is a delicious blend of honey-infused vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and orange bitters.

Chef Zakarian has teamed up with sleep expert Rebecca Robbins to create a room-service menu of Bed-Time Bites.

These snacks are all low-protein and low-sugar selections that come in at around 200 calories. You will have just the right amount of food to snack on and tide your body over until morning.
