"In honor of Molly, a portion of our profits goes directly to schools in our community. Now, more than ever, kids need our help. So, every time you have a cupcake or sip one of our hand-crafted lattes, you are helping students in the neighborhood."

Buttercup Bake Shop - Greenwich Village
This cute little bakery was founded by Jennifer Appel , a life-long home-baker who , for many years, was a clinical psychologist.
Having learned the culinary arts from her mom and grandmother, Jennifer enjoyed cooking and baking as a way to relax after a stressful day at her psychology practice. Before long, though, Jennifers' hobby became her true passion in life and she knew that it was time for a career change.
Jens' first full-time foray into the bakery business was when she opened a Magnolia Bakery outpost in the Village. A few years later, in August of 1999, Jennifer ventured out on her own to launch the Buttercup Bake Shop brand. She hasn't looked back since!
As a baker, Jennifers' style is to combine old-school comfort with innovative techniques for a finished product that has few, if any, peers. The quality and flavor are all Buttercup Bake Shop.
Jennifer's line of tempting treats emphasizes baked goods that you can't find in just any bakery.
One of her specialties is the classic bundt cake. The standout flavor is lemon-vanilla, which is outrageous. Order a slice and you'll be hooked for life!
Other breakfasts or any time of the day delights include a light as air angel food cake, blueberry coffee cake, which is jam-packed with real fruit, cinnamon scones and flaky buttermilk biscuits.
Are you into pies? Buttercup Bake Shop has one of the best selections in the neighborhood. Satisfy that craving with a slice of apple crumb pie, pecan, coconut cream, pumpkin, or lemon meringue.
Chef Jen and her team also do a luscious triple berry pie, as well as an assortment of mini-pies. These are perfect for a little snack on a rainy day when you are watching Netflix or need a quick pick-me-up with coffee on a weekend of endless errands and trips to the laundromat.
The shop has become almost as celebrated for their bars and brownies as for Jennifers' cakes and pies.
The berry blast cereal bar is something that both adults and kids will adore. The S'mores-like campfire bar is simply one of a kind as is the chocolate chip cookie bar.
Brownie fanatics can get it on with either anything but plain brownie, so very dense and moist or one that is chock-full of walnuts.
Over the past couple of decades, Buttercup has become a part of the city's' culinary scene with regular customers such as Martha Stewart and weatherman / Today show host Al Roker.
Jennifer and her treats have been featured on The Today Show, several times as well as Fox-TV, MTV and numerous other media outlets.
Feeling more than a little stressed out by work or the times that we're living in? The magical antidote is a trip, phone call, or email to Buttercup. Within a short time, you will be holding one ( or more ) of their scrumptious cakes, pies, or bars in your hand, ready to enjoy.

Ferrara Bakery - Greenwich Village
If you're looking for a bakery that is as old-school as it gets, then Ferrara's is well worth a trip from anywhere in the city.
Founded in 1892, Ferrara's is currently in its' fifth generation of family ownership.
Originally called Cafe A, the founders were Enrico Scoppa and Antonio Ferrara. This enterprising duo wanted to create a place where opera lovers could enjoy a cup or two of espresso together with one of their favorite Italian pastries, before or after attending the opera.
The quality of their delectable baked goods has remained unchanged, yet they
still have managed to keep up with the times.
Literally, there is nothing stale to be found here, from the super enticing pastries to the attitude and philosophy of the bakers. It's all about consistency.
With over 200 Italian specialties on offer, you will never run out of choices when you stop by or order through Door Dash.
Celebrity chef and Food Network star, Alex Guarnaschelli loves the Sfogliatella pastry, calling it one of the best things she has ever eaten when it comes to sweet treats.
For the uninitiated, a Sfogliatella is a pastry made in the form of a lobster tail. The ingredients are ricotta cheese, semolina flour, honey and a nice dollop of Bavarian cream.
The bright refrigerator cases hold shelf after shelf of pastries that will capture your eye and tempt that sweet tooth. You could say that they are all individual works of art.
One of their most popular items is the Cannoli Siciliano, a crispy shell pastry that's overstuffed with sweet cream and chocolate chips.
Different and delightful is the pasticciotto ricotta. It's a tartlet that's made with sweet ricotta and candied fruits.
The Isabelle is a rich but not too dense chocolate cake that is filled with chocolate mousse, raspberry jam and finished with a chocolate ganache.
In addition to eclairs and cannolis, Ferrara's signature creation might just be the Gateau, a vanilla sponge cake that's infused with a touch of rum. The other ingredients include layers of coffee cream and chocolate custard along with orange blossom and made from scratch whipped cream.
Available by the slice or as a whole cake are the white chocolate and raspberry ribbon creation, strawberry shortcake, carrot cake and a divine chocolate truffle cake.
Biscotti are just made for dunking in a cup of espresso or regular coffee. Biscotti flavors include Anise, hazelnut, chocolate-dipped and almond.
When you're here, do please remember to pick up some of their traditional Italian rainbow cookies for yourself to share with friends and family. They will totally appreciate this delicious gesture.
