Located at 38-04 Broadway, The Raven's Head Public House in Astoria has just what you need to cure those snow and sleet winter blues or the long worm nights to follow. Astorians can enjoy some superb winter and summer cocktails. The "Dark and Dreary" is anything but that. This cocktail contains a blend of Tia Maria, Bacardi Spiced Rum and coffee, sinfully topped off with whipped cream and cherry!

Their Cobertura cocktail consists of hot mulled red wine complete with a cinnamon stick. The Dream-Land is as dreamy (and good!) as it sounds...Baileys Irish Cream, Grand Marnier, coffee and a generous splash of whipped cream. You can certainly diversify your drinking at the Raven's Head. Their draft beers include Stella Artois, Guinness Stout, Newcastle English Brown Ale, Blue Moon Wheat Ale along with a host of other selections. The friendly bartenders can also offer customers Port, like the Quinta Port Ruby, which is fruity and aged for three years. 

　
You won't go hungry here, either. Main event suggestions are, their shepherd's pie, a panko crusted cod fish and chips served with homemade cole slaw, and fries and Irish chicken curry. It consists of sauteed chicken, onions, peas over rice, all topped up with Irish curry sauce. Sunswick Bar and Restaurant in Astoria, located at 35th Avenue and 35th Street (easy address to remember), is a vital part of an up-and-coming neighborhood. The name Sunswick has a great deal of history behind it, going all the way back to the Native American tribes who called Astoria home, years before the Dutch settlers arrived on our shores. Sunswick is derived from the Native American word Sunsidsq.

Loosely translated, it means place of the chief's wife. The area around Sunswick Creek, which ran from the East River into what is now Astoria, was a popular gathering spot for the local tribes. In 2014, the good folks at Sunswick are continuing that rich social tradition. With 25 beers on tap, an innovative kitchen and an eye for fun and games, Sunswick is your go-to pub for a night out. They host weekly trivia nights, karaoke, game nights and monthly beer festivals.

On Tuesdays it's cocktail night and there is one dollar off on all New York brews! And don't miss Friday evening's let's get ready for the weekend celebration. One doesn't usually go to a bar or pub for dessert. Sunswick, however, is a glowing exception. Prepared by pastry chef Michele O'Hara, the oh-so-sweet lineup includes a chocolate stout bread pudding, apple crisp meltdown and a tempting peanut butter brownie ice cream sandwich.
