Joanne Trattoria - Upper West Side

This cozy, charming restaurant is owned by none other than Lady Ga Ga's mom and dad, Joseph and Cynthia Germanotta. But that's not the reason why you need to make a reservation, as soon as possible.
At Joanne Trattoria, it's the food, not the celebrity connection, that matters. And the Germanottas, together with cupid, have a really intriguing prix-fixe menu lined up for you on Valentine's Day.

Bowery Road - Union Square

But, the night doesn't have to end after you've finished spooning up the last morsel of dessert. A majority of the veggies and fruits that the kitchen uses come directly from the nearby Union Square green market.

aplez manhattan valentines day prix fixe restaurants bowery road

Once upon a time, in the 19th century, the fourth avenue was known as Bowery Road. Farmers set up shop all over lower Manhattan, selling their wares to home-makers and nearby bars and cafes. Times have changed, indeed, but the farm to table concept has never really gone out of style with chefs who care about the quality of the ingredients that they serve.

On Valentine's prix-fixe, you may choose from a quartet of appetizers including steak tartare and a pumpkin filled pierogi in a sauce of brown butter and sage with a touch of sour cream.

A succulent NY strip steak, steamed black bass, lobster tagliatelle and a roasted half chicken with charred onions and carrots make up your entree options
There are only two dessert choices but they are both winners; a passion fruit and coconut sorbet and an espresso trifle.

Erminia - Upper East Side

Since the restaurant first opened its' doors in 1982, Erminia has been the scene of many a proposal. Couples return year after year to celebrate their anniversaries and birthdays.

It's no wonder that on the Ernie Anastos in New York TV series, Judy Goss mentioned Erminia as being one of the most romantic restaurants in the city.

Even celebrity couples who are on top of the latest trends and have entree' to New York's most exclusive restaurants, seem to agree. In 2017, Erminia hosted Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson for dinner as well as Bruce and Patty Springsteen.

The Italian menu has a distinct Roman accent to it. Rome is known for having some of the heartiest and most flavorful cuisines in all of Italy.

The decor is rustic, with exposed brick walls and the charm of a getaway cabin in the Italian Alps.

Their Valentine's Day menu consists of an antipasti course, an Intermezzo offering, a piatto principale and, of course, your choice of dolci.

Starters range from meatballs in tomato sauce and pan seared scallops with porcini mushrooms to an orange scented tuna tartare.

You can't go wrong if you choose the gnocchi with truffle cream sauce or the lobster risotto for your Intermezzo course.
A Barolo wine sauce transforms an already splendid filet mignon into something really extraordinary. But, the Veal scaloppini with black truffles and sauteed mushrooms steals the show at Erminia. This is destined to become the favorite dish of many couples who dine here.

For dessert, there is a trio of temptations to decide upon. The kitchen's traditional take on Tiramisu is on point. Their Ricotta cheesecake rivals the classic New York-style version. Need we say more? And, for sheer taste and indulgence, Erminia's chocolate lava cake has few peers.

Tavern on the Green - Upper West Side

Be a part of history this Valentine's Day when you enter the glamorous environs of Tavern on the Green.
One of the city's most iconic landmarks, Tavern on the Green has undergone a series of interesting transformations since the site was originally built as a sheepfold, in the 1880's, to house the hundreds of sheep that grazed in Central Park's Sheep Meadow.

It was master builder Robert Moses who converted the building into a restaurant, in 1934, as part of his renovation of Central Park.
Since that time, Tavern on the Green has been in almost continuous use, save for a hiatus from 2009 until 2013 when the restaurant was re-opened under the new ownership of noted restaurant entrepreneurs Jim Caiola and David Salama.

Bringing a fresh and exciting approach, the duo updated the decor and gave new life to the dining room, outdoor patio and dance floor.
The menu has been completely overhauled with an emphasis on seasonal ingredients.

Their Be My Valentine three course prix-fixe menu is available by reservation only for $125 per person. There is a lot to get excited about here.

Premium is the only way to describe the appetizer selection. You'll adore the roasted Maine lobster salad with shaved green and white asparagus ribbons, frisee and blood orange. Seafood lovers will also enjoy the jumbo ( and we mean really big) lump crab cake.

Sea scallops seem to be on just about every restaurant's menu, nowadays. but, few kitchens do a caramelized diver scallops dish with sides like black rice pilaf and a spicy mango coulis. That, my friend, is a dish to die for.

Another entree worthy of your attention is the braised beef short ribs. Accompaniments include glazed pearl onions, peas and baby carrots as well as marble potatoes.

For dessert, the raspberry lemon tart with candied lemon zest has just the right balance of sweet and sour to it. The bittersweet chocolate mousse parfait is a bit more mainstream in taste, but the lacy orange tuile adds a touch of personality to this dish.

iLiLi - Flatiron District

In a diverse city like New York, where there seems to be a restaurant on just about every street, it's difficult to find a culinary concept that is truly fresh and original. But, that's part of the joy of being a foodie. The journey is often as interesting and tasty as the final destination.

However, if you happen to reserve a table at iLiLi, a sleek and modern restaurant located in the heart of Manhattan's trendy Flatiron neighborhood, you will find a fusion of Lebanese and Mediterranean flavors that are out of this world.

In the ten years since iLiLi's opening, Chef Philippe Massoud, together with his brother Alexander, has introduced his inventive take on Lebanese mezze and comfort food to celebrities, CEOs, families, foodies and hipsters alike.

The restaurant is really an extension of the Massoud family who, in Europe and Lebanon, have been in the hospitality business for almost one hundred years. Now that's a track record of dedication and success that is simply hard to beat.

As you might expect, iLiLi's Valentine's Day prix-fixe menu cannot be compared to the offerings from any other restaurant in the Big Apple.

Valentine's Day is the perfect time to take a break from the usual food that you eat at your favorite neighborhood restaurant and experience something that is different but delicious.

The prix-fixe, at $125 per person, includes a complimentary glass of Laurent Perrier Brut Rose'.

Start off with an Amuse-Bouche of salmon roe atayef. Next, you and your sweetheart will select two mezze from their extensive selection. No kidding, there are almost twenty options to choose from.

They do a delightful Moussaka with eggplant as well as a Lebanese dish called Warak Enab Bil Zeit, which consists of grape leaves, rice, tomatoes and parsley oil. The dandelion greens with pine nuts and caramelized onions are also quite good.

One of their most popular mezze is the kebab kerez. Expertly seasoned lamb and beef meatballs are served with a cherry sauce that is a perfect compliment to the savory protein.

If you or the love of your life just happen to be vegetarian, then iLiLi has a dish on their Valentine's Day menu that you'll both fall in love with. The dish is called Poussin and your plate is filled with seasonal roasted vegetables atop Lebanese rice.

Cucumber yogurt makes a very nice counter-point, taste-wise to the lamb and eggplant that are the principal ingredients of the Lamb Makloubeh dish.

And, let's not forget dessert, particularly on that day that comes around, once a year, that is all about love and positive feelings.

A couple of must-tries are the iLiLi candy bar. This decadent dessert is made with dark chocolate ganache, dulce de leche ice cream, figs, caramel and salted pistachios. Now, do we have your attention?
A traditional Lebanese sweet ending is the Knafeh Bil Jibneh, which consists of an upside-down sweet cheese tart, sesame pita pillows and orange blossom syrup.

The Russian Tea Room - Mid-Town

Over 90 years old, the Russian Tea Room is still a place to see and be seen. The sands of time have not yet dimmed the glamour and glitz that this iconic restaurant is known for, not just in New York, but all around the world.

With fire-engine red booths and banquettes, multi-colored Easter eggs hanging from sculptured trees, a collection of dolls and paintings artfully displayed throughout the restaurant, some would say that the decor is slightly over the top.
For others, being inside the Russian Tea Room is like a trip back in time to 19th century Russia. Once you step through the ornate doors, you just may feel as though you're a character in one of Tolstoy's grandiose novels. A real, working fireplace only ups the romance factor.

The management and chef have come up with an outstanding $125 prix-fixe menu that will make your sweetheart exclaim "wow!" on Valentine's Day.

The Amuse Bouche is well worthy of such a grand establishment. Commence your indulgent evening with a disc of white chocolate with caviar and a hazelnut ganache.

Then, it's on to the appetizers. What will it be tonight; a warm butter-poached lobster salad with mixed mushrooms, Langostines accompanied by a blood orange salad or a beet and goat cheese timbale with candied pecans? The choice is yours.

When it's time for the entree, you can't go wrong with the Tea Room's signature offering, a hearty dish of Beef Stroganoff. Extra wide noodles and fork-tender chunks of juicy beef are tossed in a creamy mushroom and black truffle sauce.

On a somewhat lighter note, you can order the pan-seared codfish. This flaky treasure from King Neptune's locker is topped with foie gras and accompanied by a side of escarole.

For dessert, chocoholics, please note that the Valentine's Day prix-fixe contains a luscious chocolate mousse cake that has a chocolate and hazelnut crunch center.
However, when you dine at the Tea Room, you really should not ignore their famous Russian Blintzes. These out of bounds cherry and cheese filled pastries are topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

On this day of love, you can also enjoy a very special Vodka Flight. Live like a Tsar and quench your thirst with a well-curated tasting of different imported vodkas.
