GRK Fresh Greek - NYC, New York
GRK, now with 4 locations in Manhattan, is your healthy, Mediterranean-style alternative to the run-of-the-mill eateries that surround these areas.
GRK Fresh Greek means exactly what the name says, all of the meats and veggies served here are absolutely fresh and are sourced from local farms.
If you are on the lookout for something really different, then make GRK Fresh Greek your new go-to lunch spot. You will be enjoying the same type of authentic, Hellenic food that busy office workers eat during their lunch break in Athens. Their distinctive flavors, ingredients and meats, are what sets GRK apart from the competition. Bland and boring is most certainly not on the menu here.
The GRK concept is both novel and taste-tempting. First, just step-up to the counter and tell the friendly GRK team member whether you want to order a pita wrap sandwich or a platter. Next, choose your Yeero. Known in America as a Gyro; Yeeros are traditional Greek meats, marinated and then roasted to perfection. Slow roasting brings out all of the juicy, succulent flavors of the meat. Yeeros are thin-sliced and selections include Chicken, pork or lamb and beef.
You can't go wrong with any of them. The third step in this delicious process calls for you to add your sauce. There are three Tzatziki sauces to choose from, the GRK (scallions, mint, cucumber and lemon zest), the Kaftero, which is a little on the spicy side with habanero peppers, herbs and spices in the mix, and the Prassino: consisting of basil, garlic, shredded cucumber and lemon zest.
If you have ordered a plate, then you simply must finish it with a side. You may accompany your protein and pita slices with a salad (Kale, Lentil or Classic Greek), herb-seasoned brown rice, fries or Aegean Slaw. This is cole Slaw, unlike anything you have ever eaten before. GRK's special Aegean slaw blend consists of red and green cabbage, with carrots, onions and fresh herbs, dressed in a lemon vinaigrette.
Soups are very popular at GRK. Their very special Lentil soup consists of a very smooth lentil puree with greek yogurt, topped off with mint and Feta cheese. Also on the menu is the traditional Greek Avgolemeno soup, made with chicken broth, rice, egg and lemon juice.
When you are in the mood for something super-light for lunch, try combining a salad with a cup of GRK's frozen or fresh Yogurt. Toppings are out of the ordinary and authentically Greek such as rose petal preserves, imported Greek honey, sweet cherry preserves as well as seasonal fruits and nuts.
GRK's signature fresh Yogurt specialty is the Corfu, with basil, apples, figs, lentils, sea salt and extra virgin olive oil. Every mouthful will make you feel as though you are on vacation in the Greek Islands.
GRK's dedication to being authentic carry over to the beverages that they serve. You may wash down your meal with Souroti sparkling water, Tuvunu Greek Mountain Tea or a selection of Epsa Greek Sodas. That really hits the spot.
GRK is your Greek power lunch destination all over Manhattan.
